Leveraging Digital Learning Platforms to Enhance Access to Higher Education in Kenya

The study investigates how digital learning platforms, including those used by the Open University of Kenya, are transforming access to higher education for marginalized populations. Through a mixed-methods approach involving surveys, interviews, and institutional data analysis, the research demonstrates that flexible, affordable, and scalable digital learning models significantly improve enrollment rates and learner engagement.

Key findings highlight:

  • Increased participation of working adults and rural students.
  • Positive learner feedback on the flexibility and usability of platforms.
  • Challenges related to digital literacy and internet access, with recommendations for national policy support.

This research informs policy and institutional practices aiming to bridge the digital divide and promote inclusive education.
