The duties and responsibilities shall include but are not limited to:

  1. Develop research proposals to secure grants for graduate students and staff development, enhancing existing knowledge;
  2. Conduct research and disseminate results through various channels for community and institutional benefit;
  3. Publish books and articles for teaching, reference, and further research;
  4. Review research and academic journals to support effective teaching and learning, fulfilling the University Mandate;
  5. Prepare and revise curricula to meet evolving needs and market demands;
  6. Create course descriptions, outlines, and teaching aids for effective delivery;
  7. Supervise and mentor scholars and postgraduate students to ensure quality curriculum delivery and research output;
  8. Transfer knowledge, including practical skills, for long-term benefit;
  9. Encourage critical thinking and rational discourse among students;
  10. Assess work and examinations, providing constructive feedback to students;
  11. Promote equal opportunities and address staff and student needs in teaching content and delivery;
  12. Establish collaborations and exchanges with local and international organizations and universities;
  13. Present papers and research findings at conferences to enhance the University's reputation;
  14. Provide expertise in local and international committees for informed decision-making;
  15. Guide staff in report and publication preparation at various levels within the University;
  16. Develop strategic policies and procedures to enhance training and learning effectiveness, aligning with the University's mandate;
  17. Chair committees and contribute to institutional decision-making and governance;
  18. Cultivate internal and external networks to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing;
  19. Promote departmental work nationally and internationally;
  20. Exercise academic leadership in teaching, research, and program development.

For appointment to this Grade, one MUST have: 

  1. An earned Ph.D. or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited university recognized by the OUK Senate;
  2. At least three (3) years of teaching experience as an Associate Professor or equivalent and research experience;
  3. A minimum of sixty (60) equivalent publication points since attaining Associate Professorship or equivalent, of which at least forty (40) should be from refereed scholarly journals;
  4. Supervised a minimum of five (5) postgraduate students to completion, including at least two (2) at doctoral level;
  5. Registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable);
  6. Attracted research or development funds as an Associate Professor or equivalent.
  7. Proficiency in ICT.
